Part Time Teacher Assistant for 3K After-School
Education Requirements:
Must have a high school degree or higher
Must be 18 years or older
Work Hours: 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM (Monday-Fridays)
Pay rate: $18/hr
Location: Happy Maryann Day School - Flushing - 132-18 41st Ave, Queens, NY 11355

Overview:
As a 3k Lead Teacher at Happy Maryann, you will play a vital role in shaping the early development and education of our youngest learners. You will create a stimulating, safe, and nurturing environment in which children can grow and thrive, while fostering their cognitive, emotional, and social development.
Responsibilities:
1 Must follow all DOHMH requirements including fingerprints, background check, and required training.
Safety and Supervision
• Maintain headcounts: Track student numbers continuously during transitions.
• Monitor dismissal: Ensure children leave only with authorized adults.
• Supervise play: Watch indoor and outdoor areas closely to prevent injuries.
• Enforce hygiene: Guide children through proper handwashing after bathroom visits. [1, 2]
Classroom Management & Support
• Manage behaviors: Help children share toys and resolve minor conflicts gently.
• Assist with toileting: Help with bathroom reminders, accidents, and diapering if needed.
• Lead transitions: Move children safely from the main classroom to the after-school room.
• Comfort children: Soothe kids experiencing late-day fatigue or separation anxiety.
Activity Implementation
• Facilitate crafts: Set up and assist with simple, age-appropriate art projects.
• Encourage free play: Engage with children at their eye level during floor play. [1]
Operations & Logistics
• Distribute snacks: Serve food safely while monitoring for child allergies.
• Clean spaces: Sanitize toys, wipe tables, and organize the room daily.
• Log incidents: Document any minor injuries, scratches, or behavioral issues.
• Communicate with parents: Provide brief, positive daily updates at pickup.
